The current Conditions of Service Agreement at the Nelson Mandela University, was put in place in 2019. Council signed off on it on 21 June 2019, with a retrospective implementation to when the VC signed off on the agreement on 8 March 2019.
Nelson Mandela University gave notice to terminate the Agreement on 3 August 2025. NTEU opposed the proposed cancellation. After a protracted process it was agreed that the Agreement will terminate in March 2026.
